San Franciscans are blessed with a beautiful city to bike in and an abundance of Farmers’ Markets, so what better way to enjoy picking up your fresh, sustainable food than on your trusty two wheels.

I love heading to the Alemany market on Saturdays, but there is no organized bike parking! Not one, single bike rack.

Yeah, I wish the larger markets like Ferry Building and Alemany had bicycle valet. I know it’s been discussed, but hasn’t happened yet. We can keep our fingers crossed

That’s pretty sweet…it’s getting cold here in Boston so many of the farmer’s markets are closing up shop for the winter.
But during the warm months one of my favorite things is biking to farmer’s markets and grabbing some fresh food. Nothing quite like moving yourself to get your fuel and then carrying yourself and your fuel back home!

So true Mr. Money. I used to shop at one of the local big box stores. One day I realized that I was always stressed out and grumpy when I left. I’ve been a produce stand and farmers market kind of guy ever since.

=v= I always go to the farmers’ market with my bike. One day last August, I got there a little late and they were out of ‘most everything because Slow Food Nation got it all! (Imagine locavores from all over the world converging on San Francisco to eat OUR food!)
So I had to hop on my bike and fly like the wind down Market Street just to get my peaches for the week. Some guy saw me and took a photo of “slow food in practice:”

Jym,
Awesome. When I lived in Wyoming I thought there was nothing better than catching a fish and cooking it over a fire. There’s something about harvesting/catching, cooking, and eating your own food that is extremely satisfying.
Here in the concrete jungle, riding to the farmer’s market on your bike is about as close as I’ve figured out to get to that.
